NIMA RHINOS RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB GUEST BOOK

NIMA RHINOS RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

The Rhinos on international duty: Out of the changing rooms and into the fray: Time for action (Our captain, Abdul Samad: head already bandaged)

THE BRAIN POWER TO WIN!

Welcome to a comprehensive site for the Nima Rhinos Rugby Football Club. As we say at our club... "When game time comes, we are always ready to WIN!".

Nima is a suburb of Accra, the capital city of Ghana in West Africa. It is a highly populated area with a high unemployment rate. The youth of Nima find their personal development stunted by economic pressures.

To remedy our social stagnation, some of Nima's youth got together with the national rugby association in a drive to develop rugby at the grass routes level and to raise the profile of our neighbourhood and the esteem and worth of our youth.

The Rhinos side enjoyed a fruitful season in 2005. With a stoic defence and a lethal attack, our offence thrived with results at the end of the season of more than twice as many points for than against.  Flair in attack was specially shown by our backline of Wuronimini Samundeen Coli, Issaka Alhassan, Anthony Aforkpah; the handling skills and speed of our Captain and Stand Off Abdul Samad Said  and Inside Centre Alhassan Alidu. The intusive line breaking, awesome defence and kicking prowess of our  scrum half and full back Abdul Jalil Ibrahim and Issifu Ali Krubali cannot be overstated in the club's overall success. Abdul Razak Shaibu our utility three quarter (Winger/full back/centre) was in most cases the fastest man on the park and used that lightning pace notably.

    Recruiting of new players

In order to get more youth to love and play the game of rugby we think it is good for us to start training in the Zongo communities, so we have now choose the Kawu Kudi park off Kanda High way to be our training ground for now where we are recruiting new players who are interest in playing rugby.

Meet us this and every Saturday at 8:30am to 11:00 am at Kawu Kudi Park

The Nima Rhinos Rugby Football Club is committed to playing the highest level of rugby in Ghana. This has been evident in the clubs continued pursuit to more that 80% of its players playing for the Ghana National Rugby Team and being one of the fast rugby developing countries in Africa.

    NIMA RHINOS AT GLANCE

The Daily Sports has cited Abdul Samad as possibly Ghana Rugby's fly half of the decade. See highlights from some of the news articles on Abdul Samad by clicking on the following link:

Not only does he consistently break the gain line, sneaking through to slip try scoring passes but he consistently harnesses his smart kicking skills to leave the opposition constantly on the backfoot. He is a powerful yet silky runner, has skillful fluid passing hands and a howitzer of a boot. Luckily for us, unlike enemy artillery, Samad is spot accurate!

The last couple of seasons have seen Nima Rhinos Rugby FC reach a high of going undefeated in the few games during 2004/05 and then in 2005/06 we were faced with the rather different experience of a few drawn games, however remained undefeated! We are yet to suffer a defeat!!!
